How to Choose the Best Harness for your Dog.

When considering which harness will work best with your dog, there are a few things that you should consider. The three basic harnesess that are typically used are going to be the back clip harness, front clip harness and front clip tighting harness. Each of these harnesses are designed to accomodate different tempermented dogs.

The back clip harness clips on the back of your dog. This particular harness is the easiest for your dog to get used to. The back clip harness offers more control than the traditional collar and is tangle free. The back clip harness is also great for dogs that have easily damaged throats (Pugs).

Front clip collars offer more control than the back clip harness. If you have a reactive or fearful dog the front clip harness allows you to gently redirect your dog more easily without injuring their throats.

If you have a pup that is eager to pull the front clip tightning harness offers the most control (my personal favorite). It is important to choose a front tightning harness that has a small fixed degree for tighting when being corrected to ensure safety and comfort for your dog.

Be sure that when fitting your dog for any of these harnesses it is important that you can fit two fingers comfortably between your dog and the harness. If you see a rash under the arm or stomach it is safe to say the harness is too tight. Below is a great video to further educate you while choosing the right harness for your pup!
